This workshop is for everyone. Closely linked to Samnite history, it necessarily takes place outdoors. It is a practical demonstration of metal casting art in which the Samnites were masters.
It is a challenging activity for us operators because we have to reproduce the melting phases using a small refractory clay furnace connected to a pipe of the same material inside which is placed a small crucible (the container) where is positioned the raw metal to be melted! At that point the oven must reach the melting temperature so the fire is turned on and the bellows must be activated by hand (a leather bag) so that the oxygen increases the temperature ….PHEW, WHAT A EFFORT !! But what an incredible magic when the metal melts and takes the shape of our mold.
